Нет больше смысла конструировать всеобъемлющие уровни социокультурного развития, поскольку установлено, что при определенных условиях вырабатываются сходные типы институтов в различных эволюционных потоках.
Установлено, что социальная эволюция многолинейна: можно наметить различные пути эволюции. Некоторые из указанных путей демонстрируют лишь ограниченное развитие; это, например, относится к охотникам и собирателям, представляющим последних участников первого эволюционного потока, а также к некоторым эволюционным потокам в Меланезии и Африке, для которых еще характерен племенной уровень организации. Обнаруженные здесь «более высокие уровни развития» были «импортированы» из индустриального мира. В большинстве эволюционных потоков высокие цивилизации возникли независимо, например: страна фараонов, господствующий индустриально-капиталистический комплекс, имперский Китай. Эволюция не однолинейна, а многонаправленна. Попытка объяснить столь существенные различия в развитии в данной главе не предпринималась. Тем не менее было установлено, что эволюционные изменения в общем представляют результат комплексного взаимодействия экономических, идеологических, демографических и социополитических факторов. Кроме того, было отмечено: все подобные изменения возникают в результате действий людей, что является причиной противодействия других людей. Такие категории, как «общая», или «универсальная», эволюция, кажется, уже не имеют большого объяснительного значения.ЛИТЕРАТУРА
